If ever there was any doubt about the need for a stronger Gas Drilling Ordinance here in Fort Worth, there's a bad piece of news at Star-Telegram.com that drives the point home.
The City approved a permit for Chesapeake to drill at the Trinity Trees Site today. All this after 400 people showed up at a town hall meeting to protest, and after many passionate citizens spoke in favor of saving the trees at a city council meeting. Mind you, not one citizen not on Chesapeake's payroll spoke in favor of the drilling site at said council meeting. But the city still granted the permit because Chesapeake fulfilled all the requirements of the ordinance.
An ordinance that does nothing to protect the Trinity River, it's tributaries, or the precious natural resources that surround them.
